'Cooking Cherries'

Ben9Ben9 Posts: 15

We moved into our new house this year and we were told we have 'cooking cherry' trees at the end of our garden.

Well now they are up and ripe, I tasted a few and they don't taste very sour to me. In fact, they were only slightly sharp, very edible.

Is there such a thing as cooking cherries and are these safe to eat raw?

Thanks, we have a pigeon nesting in the tree next to them! image

The cat and dogs help keep the birds away!

They taste ok to me, might experiment with some different recipes and eat a bowl of them raw and see what happens!

I think all you have to do is fill a jar half full with brandy then Peirce the cherries so the brandy can soak in put them in brandy until the jar is full then leave it. I don't know how long, maybe someone else will know.image
