That's a beautiful poppy Stacey. My favourite colour for the garden. You have a great project there with the garden room - could have done with one of those when mine were young! image

The ferns will be lovely there- things like Dicentras and Hostas will be good too, and if you like a 'jungly' feel with some big foliage, Fatsia would be great. The children would like that!

It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
  • VerdunVerdins n I have started my hellibore collection along the fence to the left ( 15 so far!!) got a great selection from crocus at one of their sales most harvington doubles.... I have attempted to x a harvington pink speckled with a stunning double chocolate!! We will see. I also have wild garlic and snow drops for the spring all on the left and under a rhododendron. Thanks for the advice about the jap anenome I was thinking of http://www.crocus.co.uk/plants/_/anemone--hybrida-knigin-charlotte/classid.2476/. I never thought of rudbekia I love them sooooo much I have a great dwarf one ATM so they will go on the list as well

fairy girl you responded with dicentras to an earlier post and they are firmly on my list and you suggested thalictrum which I now have a load of seeds waiting to be sown in January!!!!

Read the threads last night and now joined - my first post!  This place seems very friendly and I have enjoyed reading all your comments and looking at your pictures image

Am very new to gardening and have a long garden that I am slowly making my own. By comparison it is shabby (work in progress) and I doubt I'll be putting on many photos.  That said, here is a pic of my (haha) Hollyhocks! Fingers crossed they come back next year as tall they ain't!  Planted at the back of a thankfully thin/narrow border they are just visible.

    Hi 4th panda, welcome.

Your hollyhocks may be small but I can't see any rust. I love hollyhocks but rust is a big problem for me in any member of that family

    In the sticks near Peterborough
  • Stacey that poppy is lovely, really unusual. It will be nice for you chidren tohave some space for all their things.

4th panda welcome. The forum is full of really nice people- Thank you everyone for such lovely comments about my pics. There are some really knowledgeable people on here if ever you need any help. It's also  really great place for a chat if that's what you want.
