Japanese anemoni

Hello everybody,

I have a japanese anemoni growing in a large pot and it has been doing very well, but I have recently found some of the leaves drying up. I water it regularly and it even has flower buds on it. It is in a spot with sun and alternate shade. Can anybody help, I don't want to lose it although I have a couple growing in the ground in other parts of the garden.

Has it been there long. Could it be pot bound? It's hard for plants to take up water when they get to that stage however much you give them

  • Thanks for your reply, but no, I have only had it a few months, but it has grown the buds since then?

  • Carol have you thought about separating it a little & planting it out in the garden it`s self?

in my mothers garden she grows them in the soil & they love it image

also do you water it too much?

here is a link on the GW site about Japanese anemoni

    hope it helps

They spread like wild-fire in my clay soil.  Beautiful plants but I wouldn't think they're suited to pot-life for the long term.

They thrive in my garden with zero attention apart from pulling out the overspread.

  • Thank you so much to everybody for your replies. I am wondering if it is not suitable for a pot, I will wait and see. I also think, after looking on this site, that I may be watering it too much. I have only had one in my garden in soil for two years and another one appeared recently, which I am thrilled about. Can't wait until they need pulling up. I love them!
