Plant identification
Hi, planted small area of my garden with seeds to create a 'wild garden', however it seems to have been taken over by this plant. I'm not sure if it's a weed or not but it hasn't appeared in the garden in previous years and I cleared the area of weeds thoroughly prior to sowing. Can anyone help with identifying it and advising what to do with it ?? Thanks in advance.

I can see some fat hen lurking lower down but that's not the main plant. I think it's another chenopodium or relative though

Now excuse me being cynical but I'd say both that and the fat hen are weeds.
Quickly spreading and will swamp out everything else.
My granddaughter brought me a packet of "wild flower seeds" she was given at school. Thankfully I read the packet before I did anything stupid with them... like planting anywhere near my garden! They had buttercups in .... otherwise known as the bane of my life!
Also had other stuff that I spend time, money and effort getting rid of and even including clover and ragwort! Unbelievable and I'd say darnright irresponsible!
On the other hand if you want to grow native plants for native wildlife, quite useful

I'll never agree that deliberating planting and growing buttercups and ragwort is anything other than dumb.
Depends on the size and style of your garden

If you have the room to create a meadow then your meadow mixes will include what many people consider to be weeds, such as plantains, mousear, dandelions and the likes. Horses for courses as they say.

I have a great number of native plants, insects, mammals, amphibians, reptiles and birds on my patch and I try and keep them happy as well

Be a boring world if we all liked the same things.

Each to their own. Why do some people find it necessary to, rudely, question and ridicule the tastes of others. If you like buttercups, grow 'em. If you don't, don't. Simple really.
