Cut it back, water it really well, have the new hole prepped thoroughly, water well after replanting, keep well watered until established, and regularly through summer, add a mulch of bark or similar. Then cross your fingers

I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
I you have to move it, you have to move it. If you can wait until after flowering, then do that, but you'll need to be very vigilant with it's care going into summer. Ideally you'd wait until autumn, unless you're in an area which gets regular rainfall. I can often move all sorts of things in summer that others can't, purely because of climate.

Great thread, thank you all. I am in the same situation 2 x beautiful 40 year old Camellias that have to be moved , however I am not in a rush to do so. I think most are recommending moving after flowering or in the Autumn. I note from other sites root pruning 3 months before moving is recommended. Flowering now (April) So Does that mean optimum time is root prune June, move September? It seems harsh to do a root pruning as we go into summer? Thank you

Thanks for your help.
I've recently moved into the house where both of these have been planted 2ft from the rear window.
My main concern, initially, was with how much sunlight they blocked but now I'm concerned about the impact of roots on footings of the building.
So ideally I would like to move them asap. Both of these have already flowered back in May so do I really need to wait till November?
Then cross your fingers
