Plant id please

FarendwomanFarendwoman Posts: 148

Hi - can anyone identify this little cutie, please?
It has tight little grey/green buds on very firm almost twiggy stems.
The leaves and buds have a menthol/mint/eucalyptus fragrance when squeezed.
Once identified - I would like to know where I can get it.
(This little sprig was apparently part of a bouquet from Waitrose, and a friend is keen to know what it is)
Thanks all you clever people!

Think you've probably guessed it yourself - I would say eucalyptus, though I don't know which one, there are lots. Unlikely to grow in your garden though, apart from Eucalyptus gunnii, which can be coppiced to grow as a shrub rather than a tree, and give you sprays of round leaves for floral use. They grow into very tall and gangly trees!

    Thanks Buttercupdays.

It actually looks more like a herb/perennial than a shrub.

The photo is rubbish, I know (sorry) but the sprig is only about 3 and a half inches long so everything about it is tiny, - tiny leaves and tiny little buds.

I'll see if I can find any eucalyptus pics online that look anything like.

If its hairy, could it be Ballota pseudodictamnus?
