Making raspberry jam

  • Cathy 43, think I briefly saw those plastic type covers in a pack on internet but thought they were just a decorative thing to put over the metal lid, cud do with those as I've got a few jars without lids I cud use and I melted a lid yesterday when I was boiling them, thought it was metal but it was silver coated plastic! Also got an excuse now to have a trip to Lakeland in Bowness and have a look round, tho I don't need an excuse to go to Lake District!

Probably try and preserve some of my apples when they r ready, tho they r a dessert apple, they taste OK when cooked. My raspberry jam is very nice, anyone starting to grow raspberries should give it a try.

My preserving bible is Home Preservation of Fruit and Vegetables. You can get it on Amazon and it is very cheap and very comprehensive!

It's a book I have been referring to for nearly 50 years. It has been updated several times over the years!
