Distorted fuschia

Can anyone tell me what is wrong with this fuschia please ?

When I went away it was fine but on my return it had developed shoots that look distorted. It was adequately watered while away. Not all shoots look like this.

Should I just cut all distorted parts off or destroy the whole plant ?. I have other fuschias I would not want to lose if this is likely to spread

Could it be aphid damage? Are there little black specks in the damaged leaves and ants on the plant? It looks like the kind of damage I get from them, Not on a fuschia though so I might be wrong image

I have exactly the same problem - and it's definitely not aphids.  I would also be interested if anyone knows what it is, and if there is a remedy.

Could it have been watered with a watering can which had previously been used for weedkiller?

No, I used an automatic waterer that fed into a metal tray that I stood the plant in

Fuchsia gall mite maybe? Looks a bit like early stages.

Could it be capsid bug damage or fuchsia gall mite?

I had the gall mite damage to my hardy fuchsias, but cut out all the affected parts and (fingers crossed) all is ok this season.

This problem is odd.  The tips of the branches have distorted leaves that are distorted and hard - not the usual soft growth that would be expected.  There are no pests in evidence, and definitely not weedkiller contamination.

Thanks everyone...I'm pretty sure now that it is fuschia gall mite so they have gone in a sealed bag ready for the tip. I don't want to risk my favourite Fuschai given to me by my late father so prefer drastic measures. I will replace them both next season .
