I saw this in the local press and thought it was interesting

Well, illumination pink may have taken the gardening world by storm, but not in my garden. I like perennials that last more than a year. Hardy gerberas died a rapid death too.
His introduction Cosmos cupcakes is currently doing quite well. I do like the unusual flowers. Only an annual but then I get lots of seeds in the packet.
I'm a sucker for plant porn. I'm currently drooling over bulb catalogues.

I wasn't a fan of the illumination either, not a patch on the real thing
I have have grown the cupcake cosmos and like them but wish they had some deep colour in the mix too
Well I've grown 3 Illumination Flame this year and they've been beautiful. I also grow several other Digitalis and although the Illumination is very different, I still think they're a great addition to the garden. I'm hoping they'll last longer than a year, fingers crossed. I've also grown Cupcakes and while they're pretty, to me they are'nt as strong as Tetra or Sensation Mix. Still they're something different are'nt they.
You can't beat a good species digitalis. None of these huge flowered hybrids and cultivars for me.
