  Don't think there's a limit - but I think the old ones may 'fall off' the end and not be accessible - I did try to delete some old ones but I found that instead of the ones I marked getting deleted, new messages were deleted instead.  It's one of the idiosyncracies of this board 'cos I don't think it was ever envisaged that it would be used quite as it is - c'est la vie

  Some of mine fell off the end. Seed swappers had to send me their addresses a second time but I wrote them down after that.

  I deleted some and found them almost all gone, which is a shame because I don't know who sent what on the seed swap.
