Help with plant identification

I would be grateful for any help identifying this plant.  Its leaves are somewhat sticky underneath. I've not yet managed to catch it in flower.  Seen it growing to 1m50 where I live (Paris region).  Someone said it might be of the cistus family, but have not been able to find it.  Thanks in advance.

    No.  I 'visited' it in April and have just found a photo I took of it then.  They look like flower buds, don't they ?  Wasn't able to see it again until June and then only caught the dead heads, which look similar to the buds but brown...

    Thank you very much.  I think that may be it.  There seems to be very little information in English about the plant - maybe because it's native to the mediterranean. Happy gardening.
