  • Hello  Paolon. Having spent all day in the garden filling in gaps in a newly turned over flowerbed, your message has prompted me to go out right now and pop daphne in there. As nutcutlet says, when in doubt, give it a try. Thanks.

  • Daphne now has feet of clay!(With some bonemeal, grit and fartilizer!)

  • Will do Tetley. Remind me not to come around to yours for tea! It's no wonder poor Daphne had stunted growth. I have been using plastic bottle tops as crocks for a while now, which had been suggested on a recycling website as a good and lighter alternative. When I removed Daphne from her pot, each of the three main roots had travelled down and curled themselves into a bottle top, and there they had stayed. I have never seen this in any of my other pots, but interestingly, the bottle tops seem to make good worm nurseries. Each year when I repot my plants I find a baby worm curled up in 75% of the tops.I know what to do if I ever decide to breed worms!

  • You bring new meaning to the expression " livin' off the land".

  • Ooh. I must look him up!
