MMMM yes - it'd be great at the bottom of a sponge pud, esp if you do it with marmalade image   Lots of custard too.

Sadly the engine's not playing at the moment so we didn't get out image

It's a Westerly Centaur, AnnMarie.  26-foot sailing boat with a (currently inactive) auxiliary engine.  Current problem is with the fuel system - probably the injector pump, which could be serious and expensive image

    Good luck with your car!

I moved some last winter, and this year, it's not done a lot, but I've left it alone this year, and it's looking better now, and hopefully it'll be better next year.

The second bed on my allotment is old(er than 10 years) and flowers in the spring. As mentioned above, I removed the flowering parts in the middle, and I am looking to replant this bed this winter. Should I wait until 2016 winter to give the bed I redid this year a chance to establish?

    Thanks image

I'd've though that the new bed would start to crop properly in its second year - but if it doesn''t for any reason and you've dug up the old bed.....

im a little naughty I never dug mine up , just cut it down towards the end of summer and leave it alone.... its always come back up in spring with no problems , in fact theres 3 plants there now all growing well and I get loads off it I end up given some away after freezing some

I'll wait until the new bed is up and running to be on the safe side.

    Thanks

3 ideas for rhubarb recipes: Ginger - Orange - Strawberries

    1. Cut rhubarb in pieces and put it in an oven proof dish. Add chopped stem ginger from a jar and pour in some of the sugar syrup as well. Lid on. Cook in oven at 170C for 30 min. Add sugar if it is not sweet enough.

    2. Cut rhubarb in pieces and put in an oven proof dish.  Add a whole orange cut in pieces. Add caster sugar to taste. Lid on. Cook in oven at 170C for 30 minutes approx.

    3. Cut rhubarb in pieces and put in an oven proof dish. Add caster sugar to taste. Cook in oven at 170C for 20 minutes approx. Add cut up strawberries and put back in oven for 7 minutes. Delicious!

Crumble topping for any of these:

50g porridge oats, 50g plain flour, 125g ground almonds, 50g soft brown sugar,

90g unsalted butter, 50g chopped almonds or pistachios or pecans

Rub the butter into the dry ingredients to make the crumble. Add the chopped nuts.
