Anyone know their climbers?

Can anyone help me to identify this climber in my garden please?

It was already in the garden when we bought the house.  It's climbing over the Hibiscus, Ivy tree, and other shrubs/ trees yet to be identified, so I have no idea how big it is or found its main stem yet.

It is likely that I will have to cut it back and install some sort of climbing frame for it if it's worth it as I don't think I can leave it climbing over everything as it is presently.  I'd be interested in anyone's view and recommendations.

Thanks, Angie

The leaves don't look right for C. vitalba but I agree, probably something derived from it.

Thank you for your help.  I've had a chance to read a little about it and it seems that it's not one that I should keep as it strangles other plants.

I thought it a little strange when my non-English speaking neighbour (I live in Basel, Switzerland) started pulling at it.  Despite my limited Swiss German here was a definite sense that I should get rid of it.  Now I understand why as no doubt he doesn't want the seeds to spread to his garden.

I'd better get sharpening the secateurs!

Lovely in a woodland garden - not really for a smaller garden space
