Pet Friendly Effective Weedkillers?
Hi,
We have just got our puppy in the past week and after running around the garden with it picking everything out of its mouth you realise just how many different weeds there are!
I have some really good industrial strength weedkiller in the shed which i will no longer be able to use in the dog areas so was wondering if there were any proven products that you can either make yourself or buy to effectively remove weeds without harming the dog? I have looked on the internet and most suggest vinegar, salt, washing up liquid but when you watch videos of it being tested it doesn't seem to do a great job.

Flame thrower or pulling it up by hand is all I now use! I don't trust any product designed to kill even "just weeds" near my hound.
What sort of weeds have you got?
Gardening in Central Norfolk on improved gritty moraine over chalk ... free-draining.
Thanks all, was hoping for some magical formula that I could spray everywhere and not harm the plants
guess it will have to be hand weeding then
To be honest its the stuff away from the borders that im bothered about for now like the dandelions and other random weeds poking through the concrete and the block paving. The stuff in the garden can probably wait until the end of the year or start of next as its difficult to get to them with all the plants growing everywhere and hard to know whats what!
I could probably still use my normal weed killer on the drive as the dog isnt allowed on the front for another 2 and a half weeks
I would avoid any home made " weedkillers" because animals have different sensitivities to substances than humans. For instance garlic and onions are poisonous to dogs, so your home made product could be more dangerous than the commercial weedkiller to a dog.
boiling water poured on the weeds in the concreted areas should kill them, but for everything else, hand weeding. what kind of pup have you got? would love to see a photo
