Bindweed in my lawn :(
Hi guys (and gals), I have quite a large garden and a couple of years ago I cleared a section (some 6 ft x 15ft) and grass seeded it. Over the last couple of years it has grown nicely (a bit patchy but not bad). Unfortunately this year I've let the grass grow a little long and on closer inspection I've realised it's covered in tiny bindweed tendrils
Now I know I can use a glyphosate based weed killer to get rid of it, but that would kill the lawn. What is the best way to get rid of it? I know I need to keep the lawn short but if I cut it now I'll simply spread it around. I've read about staking it and spray it as it grows up the stake but I've got so much of it everywhere it wouldn't kill as much as it grows (if that makes sense?). I've also read about lawn weedkillers, has anyone found one that's effective against bindweed? So, what does everyone suggest? Thanks in advance

Keep the lawn short, persistent cutting eventually starves the bindweed.
As I say, I know I should keep it short but if I cut it now I'll simply end up spreading it even further - surely that's the worst thing I could do right now?
You won't spread it by cutting the green shoots, they just die.
Mow it every three days. It will weaken it every time you mow.
Thanks both for your advice.
What Dave said, our lawn used to be full of bindweed far to much to treat so I keep it short at all times and there is very little left.
