runner beans
I started my gardening.way back 1956 I worked as an apprentice auto electrician in Derby and the chap responsible for starting my life long love was non other than Ted Buckzaky his son would go on to be one of the country's experts.I later worked with ted at Rolls Royce and once more.gardening was a main source of conversation .and along with ring culture for toms or chryshants. came the subiect of runner bean blossom drop all the old timers swore that you had to spray in the evening.June drop was the term used.I now live in Toronto runner beans are unavailable.I managed to find a pack of Thompson seeds and low and behold they are now nine feet high and all the blossoms are dropping .the temperature is around 20 degs I figured cold a water sprey at night cant harm it will cool the plants low and behold some flowers are setting..and so the old timers where on the right track or so it would seem?

I think the son would be Professor Stefan Buczacki, who was brought up in Duffield, just outside Derby.
You are correct Stefan is the son of Ted
thanks for watering advice they get plenty
I've been told to spray runner beans to encourage the flowers to set in the past. Can't remember who it was told me but it worked.
I will carry on spraying with nothing to loose I hope
his dad was a gem
