Problems with French marigolds

For the first time in many years I am having problems with French marigolds After planting some of the plant heads are drooping and the whole plant appears to be stripped Has anyone come across this problem a show do you deal with it How do you deal with it

Your description sound like the work of slugs/snails, they have stripped some of mine a few pellets got rid of the pests.
I've decided to give up on french marigolds after this year, they have turned into what you have described, slug food!
Mine were awful this year and thought I must have done something wrong. They have all gone to compost heaven.
