empty concrete garage wall, what to grow?
our next door neighbor has a garage at the bottom of his garden but we do not.
we therefore have a large bare grey concrete wall in our garden at the top of a small banked bed.
I had thought of a cordon/espalier fruit tree or 2/3 against it but I wondered if there might be better options?
I would prefer something we can eat as opposed to just decorate flowers if possible.
the wall gets a fair amount of sun so that shouldn't be a problem I don't think

I guess it is technically theirs but it faces into ours so as far as I am concerned its fair game. the only issue maybe that its solid concrete so drilling into it might not be easy to attach any wires or anything.,
I guess the only option then would be to put a couple of fence posts in, maybe concrete them in and then attach wires to that and grow something on there, it would still hide the garage although there would be a gap between the posts and the garage?
I would just avoid any problem at all. If you put two posts, wire it and cover with an espalier they are in your property. Problem solved happy neighbours and garage wall covered
My neighbour's garage forms part of my boundary as it goes beyond my back fence but is next to my car parking area. I wouldn't dream of putting anything on it and I would go mental if it was my garage and someone starting sticking screws, supports or anything else in or on it.
Safest solution fro the OP is a fence, or posts and wire, or trellis on your own side of the boundary to grow plants on. That way, there's no issue - now or in the future. I'm not in favour of asking the homeowner's permission either. They may say plant what you want on the wall, but people move house....can of worms and all that
I live in west central Scotland - not where that photo is...
