The flower buds have just started to form on the hydrangea. Have just noted that on some of them there are brown spots. Please help. I would hate to lose it as the flowers when they bloom are a lovely shade of pink.

Some of the buds on my normally healthy twelve year old hydrangea turned black a few weeks ago, and the problem has now spread to all of the buds. Can anyone please advise. Should I cut off the tips of all the branches?
Thank you Tetley. Have checked it over no signs of chafer beetles. The spotty buds have been nipped off,and it has had a good drink ( water). Fingers crossed now.
