I.d help please

Hi , i sowed some seeds in a border and in haste threw away the packet. I thought i planted Sweet pea in this area and i even made a trellis to encourage growth , the plant is now 5ft and doing well but several people have been round in my garden and said that it is weed and i need to rip it up straight away !

I am very reluctant

No it's not Russian Vine. Could you take a photo of a flower so the shape of the flower can be seen and the number of petals please

If it's done all that in this season it's likely to be an annual but is it possible that it was there last year in a smaller way?

Whatever it is, it's no sort of pea

hi Abbi, just two things. There is an old saying that a weed is just a plant in the wrong place image  it isn't a sweet pea but if you like it stick with it and ignore what other people say. I think the flower looks quite attractive image

I think it's Polygonum (or possibly Fallopia now) convolvulus or a relative. One of the buckwheats.
