I went to Mottisfont Abbey rose garden in June and was in rose heaven, it was glorious but they are all over by July and then it's at least a couple of months before repeat flowering.
They did have a very good mix of perennials and roses and you could really see how perennials enhanced the roses, without them they would have looked a bit sad when flowering was over.
They had lots of pinks at the front of the border which looked amazing.
Does anyone know if the type of feed affects the colour of the flower?
I have a DA crimson coloured rose or at least I did. It's almost Barbie pink now. The only thing I did differently this year is used some slow release fertiliser. I had used toprose earlier in the year but ran out.
Mine are scattered all over the place in both my fairly large front and back gardens so not all in one place. I think I'll just keep the ones I really care for and do my best to get rid of the others. Won't be easy though - eight of them are planted under weed suppressing material covered in a very thick layer of stones and 5 of them are planted along my front fence which is practically in the road. Could be dangerous as few drivers keep to the speed limit along our narrow country road.
Wish I was a bit younger and had a lot more muscle! Thank you for all your opinions - you've helped me to make up my mind
