What is eating my Runner beans?

Hello all,
Please can you help. Something is eating my runner beans and doing a very good job of it. What happens is the beans flower fine, then when the beans are about an inch long - wacko vanished, chewed off. The rest of the plan is basically fine.
I get none - the creature getsc all
Any ideas or solutions?

Thank you but, the damage is about six feet up mostly - so mountaineering slugs only. Maybe pigeons maybe mice?
These are fully grown plants
I've had this problem in the past and always put it down to birds pecking them off, mistaking them for green caterpillars.
