Plant ID please

MistwalkerMistwalker Posts: 65

Hi gardeneers,

I have another plant ID request. This one has self seeded this year and is about a foot tall. There are none of these anywhere else in the garden. It's parked itself right outside one of my wildflower beds so I'm wondering if it's a stray from there but there are none of these in those beds, either.

It's very nice and bright so even if it turns out to be a weed I think I'll let it stay.

Any help with an ID would be appreciated.

Thanks guys image

Erysimum capitatum also known as prairie rocket or western wall flower. Native to the States

Thanks guys. Much appreciated. It must have floated in from a neighbors garden. Always good to get a freebie occasionally. image

And a prized freebie it is Mistwalker. If I found that in my garden I'd be waiting eagerly with a brown paper bag to collect any seeds that it might produce so that I could encourage it to take up residence even more!

Well as you can see from the pic, Hippophae, it chose to make home in among slate chippings which, after reading up on them, is the prefect place for them. Hopefully this will mean seeds from this one will make themselves right at home next year, too.
