Weeds

image

I do a lot of gardening for local neighbours and am forever at loggerheads with householders who insist on cultivating weeds 'because they look nice'. The photo here is a good example. I'm not sure what it's called but on clearing some of its invasive root system I suffered a nasty bout of eczema as a result. Are there any published guidelines on what is an 'acceptable' weed and what should be avoided ?

I think its houttanyia(sp). If you check out any plants on the rhs website the will tell you if there are any toxicity, sap, contact etc

I am one of those that cultivate what are termed as weedsimage, personally i think they are fine as long as you are aware they can be dealt with harshly, they dont need the tlc of some cultivated plants

  • Your quite right of course Cathy, but I tend to be 'old school' in my attitude to troublesome weeds. I'll check out the the site as you suggest. Thank you.
