Fluffy white stuff on my crab apple and wilted leaves - help!
Last winter my OH pruned the crab apple tree. It was fine till recently and then last week we noticed that the cut areas and along several of the twigs it was covered with white fluffy deposit, rather like cotton wool. The end leaves are wilting too. Is this wooly aphid, fungus or something else? What should I do and will it spread to the eating apple next to it?

Almost certainly is 'woolly aphid'.
Definitely woolly aphid! Have a look at the RHS link below which suggests different methods of control (both biological & chemical)
