Allett Classic

Would anyone be able to suggest where I might get the answer to a technical question?

I bought an old Allett Classic 17 and theonly manual I could find refers to an on/off switch but my machine doesn't have one, so I can't stop the engine. The manufacturers are unable to help

I can remember an old petrol mower (I'm quite old myself) where you turned it off by turning the petrol off.

  • Unfortunatel, there is no way to turn the petrol on or off

  • Sorry, thanks for your reply

How old is the mower - did you buy it new?

  • I bought it a few months ago and think it is about 20 years old

That's not old, do you think it's been interfered with?

20 years ago all the 'dead-man handles' etc would have been legal requirements for a self-propelled mower.

I just had a google to find that it is self propelled, not familiar with that one

Has anyone modified the fuel line?

Or could you or do you know someone capable who could modify it and fit a tap - you can buy them online - just put

In Line Fuel On/Off Tap lawnmower into google.

Perhaps others will think that's a bit dangerous but it's what my Pa would have done, but he was very good at those things.
