have you tried anything new that worked or didn't?

I bravely  gave a very old very potbound fern a severe root prune a repot and its doing well.

Stuck a whole tray of red tagetes alone in a large planter because I didn't know where to put them. They look great. Will do it again next year.

Most 'teabag' bedding plants are now dead or doing nothing. Will never buy them again.

In London. Keen but lazy.

Sounds like your instinct was right B3! image

The one thing I have consistently failed with is growing delphiniums from seed.

I use seed compost, don't over water, keep in a well ventilated greenhouse and nothing ever breaks the surface. No idea what I'm doing wrong! I've had success with my lupins from seed which are coming on a treat now but delphiniums, I've lost hope!

If anyone has any tips they are welcome but I've lost faith in my ability! image

WonkyW , You could try putting the delphinium seeds in the fridge for a couple of weeks

Hmm don't try either of these things Edd and Perki, image back to the drawing board for next year then! image I cheated this year after my disappointment, I bought small plants image let's see if I can't kill those too! image

Make sure your delphinium seed is fresh WW. I sowed mine last autumn, outside on the garden table and most germinated.

Seeds that totally failed this spring were corn marigold and devil's-bit scabious, not a single germination between them.

Bought some lovely big asters, much more expensive than I would normally buy, lovely bright colours. Woke up the next day - snails had eaten the lot.
