New wildlife pond - what should we expect to colonise it first?

    All my oxygenating weed was just thrown in. Taken out of the pot it will spread much quicker. You will find all sorts of squirmy things in there, ‘you build it, they will come’ 🙂

    The beetle is probably a diving beetle. Harmless.  I love watching them  :)
    Oxygenators grow and spread quite quickly, so it's unlikely to die off. Do you know which one  you have?
    Mosquitos love warm wet conditions, so if you have shallow areas, that's likely the reason you have those. They'll get eaten by birds etc.
    Can't think what the creamy things are. Are you sure they're moving?
    It's a place where beautiful isn't enough of a word....

    They are definitely moving!!! Not sure which plant I have. I have lost the label.😀
