i have a Dianthus which has loads of buds but none are opening, they all seem brown and hollow, all my other dianthus are in pits and flowering really well, any advice appreciated thanks in advance
Copious amounts of water to begin with rosemummy. Although dianthus can cope with dry conditions they need the moisture to form the buds. Cut them back by half, feed and water, then water once a week or enough to keep the soil moist. They should come back. i do it with pinks and they respond well. Same family so similar treatment.

It's still rubbish, I see a few lovely bright pink buds then they are dry and dead, foliage all healthy, all my other dianthus ( in pots ) doing great
