With roses sometimes that happens for no reason, just cut back to a bud and it will regrow and make new buds make sure you water well, don't feed after this month so it won't make to much soft growth for the winter.
  • Thank you Logan.  Any tip's on when to prune, how to shape, winter care etc. First year with standard roses so any help needed.

At the .moment just dead head in November cut if back by half. Because it's a standard you might have to protect it from the frost because the graft is higher than usual, just shape it in a round shape. March time you prune it again about 8in from the graft, when it starts to grow give it a rose food feed.I hope that helps. You might still be able to get a book called the rose expert.
