Oh that's a shame, perhaps someone who reads this may have some tips or guidance they can share with me about wisteria I hope so, thanks anyway.

Thanks Charlie that explains it! I'm in Northern Ireland haven't had much sun and has been pretty cool, it was 12C todayimage. On the positive from what you tell me it reassures me I have sited it in the right place SW facing, brilliant it means I have a chance stillimage

Passionate, re the wisteria, I would say that slicing the top off and getting flowers is luck. If you are allowing it to grow and spread to cover an area it will put its energy into growing. Be sure to nip off the very tip of the spreading shoots at this time of the year to tell the plant to start flower buds that will ripen in the sun.  Hope this helps but this is the way I think about it, my logic can sometimes be a bit convoluted!image

My only contribution to wisteria in the garden,  is that you should be aware that they are particularly good at their roots finding any underground water pipes and building foundations. I was warned many years ago not to plant one near any structures.

Hi Pat E thanks for telling me that.

I planted mine to climb up and over an arch which is about 15ft away from the house so hopefully that's far enough ????

Hi Jo47, thanks for the tip I will do that, maybe we can both benefit from some advice.
