How to eradicate Jasmine?

Hi,

I've got a Quince hedge which unfortunately has got invasive Jasmine growing through it. The Jasmine is slowly taking over. Is there any way of selectively killing the Jasmine? Any tips would be appreciated.

    You could put some temporary poles or canes in for the jasmine to climb and when a fair amount of foliage has built up, remove the pole and stuff the foliage into a plastic bag and spray inside with a glyphosate-based weedkiller.  That should prevent any spray accidentally getting onto your Quince foliage.  The same trick is often used on other unwanted climbing plants within borders, such as bindweed.  You need to leave the dieing Jasmine stems until they go completely brown in order to give the glyphosate time to get down to the roots, which is obviously what you need to eliminate.  If glyphosate doesn't do the trick then try sbk brushwood killer.

    Do you think a black bin liner will suffice?

    The quince is approx 70 years old, so I don't want to lose it!

    A bin liner would be ideal Pete.
