I have three blueberry bushes in pots one early, one mid season and one late, I did label them but the pencil washed off so I have no idea which is which. Two of them have fruit which is turning blue the third didn't set any fruit although it had flowers. I understand that blueberry bushes require moist well drained compost so I added quite a bit of sharp sand to the mix to aid drainage but the soil does seem very dry at times I may have overdone the drainage although I could water every day I suppose. I water them with rainwater and have fed them once with ericaceous liquid feed. I was led to believe that they only need pruning to keep them in shape.
In reply to Hippophae, I understand plant breeders in the southern USA have bred in their local species to create varieties that need less winter chill than northern Blueberries [ the ones we grow in the UK] but I they require some chill, they wont grow in the tropics.
Thanks but luckily I have plenty of rainwater at the moment, I also water other fruit with rainwater, gooseberries, raspberries and newly planted apple and pear trees.

I have now pruned my blueberry. Should get plenty of new growth for next year DV.
