I've been growing on this Dwarf Buddleia Buzz that i brought in March. Its now in a 3L pot, i want to have in a nice big pot but its gone out of shape. It has developed a branch that is sticking right out, could i cut this or should i leave it?. It looks like its just going to come into flower.

Also i've been growing some Agapanthus from seed in my greenhouse and they are looking good. Now should i leave them in the big box they are in over winter or pot them on.

  • Hi Voyagerxp

Looks like the Buddleia  is suffering from lack of nutrients. once this has been rectified it should start to regain steady growth. Suggest re potting or putting into the ground. Give it some granular slow release food and should be fine.

The agapanthus I would suggest planting out to get it established this summer prior to over wintering.

Both colourful plants to have in the garden

    Enjoy

I would leave the agapanthus as it is till next spring but maybe a weak feed to get the roots growing. In the spring pot up the best in separate pots and grow on for another season, maybe two or three seasonsimage

Buddleias are ungainly shrubs but can be cut to suit your wishes. That would be worth planting out

Yes, give the buddleja a bigger pot and some feed - I would let it flower then cut it hard back to encourage some bushing out - not forgetting that you're going to hard prune it in March/April anway.

My fault with the buddleja as i left it too long in that pot, i will pop out tomorrow to buy a nice big pot. nutcutlet i was thinking the same, save upsetting the roots i'll leave them in them boxes until next year and pot them on then. thanks alot peeps.

Would a 10.3 L pot be ok for the buddleja?

That's too big a jump - go for something inbetween for now image
