pruning centaurea montana

I've been dead heading my centaurea montana by just removing the heads. But should I be pruning them back to the ground to encourage new growth? Looks like they are coming towards the end of flowering now.

If you cut them right back you'll get a new crop of leaves and possibly more flowers
