    Privet?

Do the flowers have any smell?  Privet flowers have quite a  sweetish distinctive smell.

The other day I walked passed a privet hedge which was in flower. It took me back to my childhood when lots of people had privet hedges. I think they have gone out of fashion now.

The scent of privet flowers always takes me back to a holiday in Brittany where the privet hedges were high and full of flowers and buzzing insects - I know some people loathe the smell, but I love it image

I would go for Ligustrum ovalifolium, the hedging privet, nauseating smell , makes me heave, I cross the road to avoid flowering privets.

That's good Invicta, I thought it was just me that hated the smell.

    Philadelphus much the sameimage

Not keen on Philadelphus but no where near as bad as privet. I also dislike the musty smell of Prunus padus the Bird Cherry.
