beefstake tomatoes
in Fruit & veg
Decided next year to grow some beefstake toms in the GH.I could try buying different sorts , but wondered if anyone had a banker.ie Good year after year.
Also where seed obtained.
A good doer ,ideally fast maturing, but also with taste. Also ones to avoid perhaps.
Thanks in advance.

I've grown Marmande in the past, but not doing so this year - you get a handful of really big toms, rather than loads of little ones ......loads of little ones suits us better
NM, beefsteaks are, by definition, on the larger side so there aren't many fast-maturing varieties. They usually take 70 days or longer from planting out to maturity and that's in prime conditions, prolonged warm weather, etc.
I have half a dozen beefsteak varieties in the ground. 70 days from planting out ticked over the other day. Seriously warm weather has only hit here in the last month - very high 20s into the mid-30s - and the first beefsteak is probably another 10 days away from maturity.
How long is your viable growing season?
Costoluto Fiorentino. Big tomatoes, lots of flesh. Good in a sandwich with cheese and also on top of cheese on toast. You could try Seeds of Italy (www.seedsofitaly.co.uk)
