summer bulbs for shade

hi hoping someone can help, is there any summer flowering bulbs for light shade been to loads of shops and all the bulbs need to be in full sun, i have an area against a fence which is light shade all day and well drained soil any ideas?

    Can't think of any off hand Rick but anything's worth a try. The well drained soil would probably suit alot of them but not the shade all day.

  • I have an east facing bed that doesn't get a lot of sun but did well last year with gladioli, allium (sphaerocephalon) and crocosmia. Crocus website says crocosmia is okay in partial shade so may well be worth a punt. You may be able to leave them in the ground over winter, too. In fact, you can search the crocus website for bulbs that like light shade and flower in eg July = 35!
