BEES ON PEAR TREE LEAVES

Hello - I have been trying to create areas in my garden where wildlife can flourish.  Small pond, Piled up logs covered in leaf litter. Nest Boxes, Bee and insect hotels , as well as suitable flowers to attract bees, butterflys etc.,

There is something happening this year, that I do not understand. Namely, some bees appear to be foraging on the underside of leaves on one of my pear trees. I watched the other day and they go from one leaf to another - underside only.....!!?

Does anyone know exactly what they are doing and why?

    Hi Pansyface,  unfortunately, I did not take any pics., but they were what I call furry bees if that is any help.

    Could they be leaf cutter Bees?

    I saw this on my beech hedge last week.. I think it is to do with aphids and honeydew. It is a sticky liquid secreted by aphids and bees seem to love it. Were there aphids on your pear leaves?

    Thank you for your replies Blue Dragon and Outdoor Girl.

    I have not seen any missing parts on the leaves, so am not sure about leaf cutter bees. However, there were some aphids and leaves are a bit sticky.......I wonder if this is what they are looking for ?
