Hanging a Horseshoe

Which way up do you hang a horseshoe? I have a couple I would like to display but there seems to be contrasting opinions on this

You have them with the open end at the top, so the luck doesn't drop out.
Depends if the horse fights back, they can be quite objectionable!
Oh yeh Steve
just clocked yr avatar.
Open at the bottom so the devil doesn't sit in it
or, more logically, the way up that looks right to you

In Rutland, land of the horseshoe, they are always oriented the way that nutcutlet says. You can always plant a rowan to keep witches and the devil away.
Yes, in East Anglia they always hang with the open bit at the bottom so the devil doesn't sit in it - or you get two and interlock them

A farrier told me that they always hang them (above a door) with the open bit at the bottom so that the luck falls on you when you walk through the door
horseshoe for good luck should always be open end at the top normally above a doorway as don't want your luck too run out
We've got two - one open at the bottom, the other at the top !
