Victoria plum tree

I planted a plum tree last year which seemed to be doing quite well. This year, almost as soon as the leaves opened, greenfly attacked it. We have sprayed and sprayed, but to no avail. Every leaf is covered, curled up and looking sickly, some have turned brown and the tree looks very sick. Any ideas please?
