courgettes

I have been given 2 courgette plants that are already full of golf ball sized round fruits. I have never grown them before and don't know the variety. Any ideas when they will be ready to harvest? Thanks.

I think you can harvest courgettes from when they're really quite young. if you've got a few already, why not pick one now to see If it's ready?

I grow a variety named Tondo di Piacenza which has round fruit, pick them when they are tennis ball size they are beautifully juicy something like a cross between a courgette and melon.

I pick the normal cylindrical ones when 4" (100mm) long, which is shorter than in the shops. I find small ones are firmer and tastier. I would guess you should harvest at no bigger than 3" but why not try various sizes till you find what you like?
