Cuckoo spit is the home of a larval stage of the frog hopper insect, harmless.
The ants are 'milking' the aphids for the honeydew which they secrete. Wash off the aphids with a strong jet of water and use an Ant killer powder on the ants nest.
I try to ignore the insect damage as much as possible.
Rather wonderfully earlier I was watering and standing beside one of the little standard willows and a leaf cutter bee snipped out a bit of leaf and made (wait for it) a bee-line to the insect hotel!
