Water Feature

I removed an old, unused "Lion Type" resin water feature from the wall. As well as the slugs and snails and slime it had accumulated over the past few years, in the back remained what  can only describe as a thick watery sludge which stinks to high heaven.  I know in the past my son used to hose it down with a fast jet of water, but I don't fancy doing that.  I was going to throw it out but I 'm sure it could look very pretty and usable again. Can anyone help with suggestion for cleaning. The cleaning I will be able to cope with - it's just that sickeninng smell!   Thanks everyone. image

    GAG ! GAG Again !

if you can, just push it over and walk away. a while later go and drag it from the drained stink puddle then give it a day. Then attack it with a big hot bucket of soapy water, preferably heavily scented soap like fairy washing up liquid (biodegradable) and a long handled brush that isn't too 'flicky' or 'pingy', as in pings the stuff your scrubbing at you. Repeat this with several buckets until stench and sludge has almost gone. Then get up close with a sponge and soapy water to finish the job.

I have a really sensitive gag reflex when it comes to anything that pongs so I adopt this approach often. LOL

Hi carol ann, you could use a disinfectant called Zoflora, it's a concentrate it kills bacteria, odours and freshens. Use a stiff brush but put on some clothes that you can change.

Thanks everyone, some good tips there. Love the adjectives "flicky and pingy" as that's exatly what it's like. (good title for a comedy duo image) I'm thinking it'll be down to good old elbow grease in the end - thanks again for all the tips.

You could try sprinkling bicarbonate of soda over it and then pour vinegar over it, it will bubble and fizz. If it clears blocked it might work?
