Choisya

I have a Choisya in my garden and it as grown too big for the borders,I need to cut it back hard when is the right time to do it and would I lose it if I do this.

    Usually cut shrubs after flowering.

    I've just reduced mine from about 10 foot wide by 6 foot high to a stump as close to the ground as I could saw.

    I'm expecting it to grow back Tetley. I'm hoping for some rain as I'm not into carrying buckets of water. It was collapsing outwards and bits were rotting and only a tree paeony, a viburnum and a sarcococca prevented it lying down completely
