Gillenia trifoliata

I really like this plant, which I bought online in a tiny pot last Autumn. It's done really well in dryish shade. The flowers are ice white and elegant. The calyces started off green but are starting to show a reddish colour.

Ooh I've got a couple of dry shady spots, grow epimedium there at the moment but might try one of those.

I have been giving it a bit of water, as it was so small when I planted it. The soil is clayish, and dries out in part due to the nearby privet hedge. What sort of conditions have you been planting it in Nut? From how this one has performed for me I have been assuming this is a real toughie.

I have dry soil for the most part Will. Some clay, possibly subsoil. and all lacking organic stuff. Gradually improving around with composting and the output of the shredder but there's a long way to go.
