Is this a bug or disease?

I noticed a few days ago, on the leaves, these white trace lines. Look a bit like tape worm, but it is damage on the leaf, not an actual worm, It almost looks like a tiny bug is inside the leaf and burrowing a little tunnel. It's developing at a very slow rate. I can't see a bug anywhere.

I wonder if its one of those things like slugs, they'll attack the plant, but the plant will still be fine. Should I be worried or not? The sprouts are due to come in to harvest in September.

The sprouts are living at ground level in a spade deep compost bed, with thick heavy sticky clay soil around them. The garden is prone to white powdery mildew, grey mould and mosaic virus thing. I get those every year. Not sure if this info is useful - just thought I mentioned it!

Without a pic i guess it's leaf miner which won't hurt the plant just the leaf.

Yep that is exactly what it is thanks! I google so many different things and didn't come up with anything like it -- thanks again

Squash them inside the leaf between your forefinger and thumb.

A trowel in the hand is worth a thousand lost under a bush.

ive had such problems with leaf miner this year, my senettis had so many i had to cut it back and lost loads of young zinnia plants too, i had to take every leaf off of my leucanthia daisies as there were so many, thankfully new leaves grew quickly and the senetti is growing back, if you have too many to squash pick off the leaves and destroy them don't compost them as i did first time. the leaf miners drop off and stay in the soil til neaxt year and then hatch out as the flys to start over again if you don't deal with them, my leucanthias went almost dead within a week of the little leaf suckers taking hold, luckily it recovered almost straight away once the infected leaves had been removed.
