Does it have a groove down the 'front' of the stalks?  If so I think it's

Hogweed - not the dangerous Giant Hogweed - just the ordinary native one that we used to gather to feed our pet rabbits when we were children.

  • Thanks dovefromabove.  You do know a lot! Are you a professional or is it years of experience? Hogweed, cow parsley, cat mint, dog wood, birdsfoot trefoil. Made me think how many plants have animals in their common names.

I grew up on a farm in very rural Suffolk - agricultural weeds were a major part of my childhood! image

  • Ah hello nutCutlet. I'll have to think of a more interesting username. ???? I've never actually paid much attention to the seed pod but I've looked it up and it is amazingly like a birdsfoot (an abnormal one with extra toes ????).
