How do get a great front lawn?....help!
Help needed....
For years I have a shared front lawn which I have let the neighbour kindly manage, but it's never got into a decent state. So I am going to take over.
Story so far:
1) I have already treated it for lots of moss, which has now died leaving large patches.
Q1: do I need to scrap out the dead moss?
2) The lawn had lots of weeds. I have treated them each directly with lots of roundup. Seems to have worked.
Q2: do i need to pull out each of the dead weeds or just let them die back?
3) New grass:
I want to get a pretty quality green front lawn. Its barely walked on (zero traffic crossing it, aside from annoying cats!)
Q3: What is best grass seed to use to get a quality result?
4) There are 2 cats that cross my lawn and in the same path, wearing it out in a line and trampling the grass too.
Q4: How do you stop cats walking across the grass causing a line and/or flattened grass?
Thanks.

Thanks verdun, I was hoping for a quicker fix, I am not retired so don't have hours and hours to do the job, but would like to fix this lawn. Currently I'm sure we have the worst lawn in the street status!
Attached is a picture of the current state, looking more like wasteland! I have left the grass to grow because it seems it may reseed itself in part.
This is what is left of the lawn after 2-3 attempts of removing weeds and moss having been killed. It's a mess at present I know.
The cats walk along the right side edge nearer the house side, you cant see the line that well at the moment as I have treated the moss and weeds.
Yes you can now see my issue with it, there were more weeds and moss than grass. Neighbour seemed to be just cutting the grass and most likely spreading the weeds and moss.
What is the best seed to use? I want to have a nice solid green colour..... its not a walked on area, aside from the cats.
Do I have to dig up the dead moss and dead weeds?
Also, what is the best way to scarify it?
Nice piece of kit but a bit expensive at ? £40ish.
Can anyone recommend the types of grass seed to buy?
Great clip, lovely guy, right that is the lawn I want!! ha ha, my mission is set. I wonder how long it will take to make it look like that.
Is that guy using a hand pushed mower?
Do you recommend I get a spreader, for even application of the seed?
And did he say, "bentgrass seed" the high quality one and other is fescue seed
Why do a lot of seed brands not state the type of seed in their box, e.g. Evergreen ones, none say the type of seed.
Scatter by hand?
on this little patch it could, but not if a bigger garden.
what happens thats so wrong if you do it by hand as opposed to this tool method?
